Welcome to Daryl's Corral of Cartoons!

I'm Daryl Talbot, Cowboy Cartoonist. My cartoons and illustrations are used in magazines, books, T-shirts and greeting cards. My work is seen regularly in WESTERN HORSEMAN and LEATHERNECK magazines, and LEANIN TREE greeting cards. I graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in art education in 1972. I'm a member of the National Cartoonists Society, Cowboy Cartoonists International, and the Academy of Western Artists. In 1997 I received the Will Rogers Cowboy Cartoonist of the Year Award from the Academy of Western Artists and 1st and 3rd Place in the all Navy cartoon contest in ALL HANDS magazine in 1975. There's 4 books collecting my cowboy cartoons published by Pelican Publishing Co. and New Forums Press. After serving in the Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force Reserve, Army Reserve and Oklahoma Air National Guard, a 5th book is now out collecting my military cartoons from '70s to '09 from New Forums Press. The title is LAUGHING IN CADENCE. These cartoons appeared in LEATHERNECK MAGAZINE and SOLDIERS. Look for my books at Amazon.com. Ask for books by Daryl Talbot.

I'll be part of a special exhibit at the Oklahoma History Center in Oklahoma City opening on 12 June 2010 and ending in August 2011 titled THE UNCANNY ADVENTURES OF OKIE CARTOONISTS. It will feature the contributions of Oklahoma cartoonists to the comics and cartooning industry.

I'll be participating in Kingfisher's "Living History Days" at their Chisholm Trail Museum on Saturday April 14 from 10:00a.m.-5:00p.m. I'll be drawing my cartoons and selling my books and prints...and collecting stories from visitors sharing experiences. Hope to see you there.

April 21 from 10:00a.m. to 4:00p.m. I'll be exhibiting, drawing, and selling my books and prints at the Arts Trek in the Mabee-Gerrer Museum of Art at St. Gregory's University in Shawnee, OK. Hope to see everyone there.

I was initiated into the western life at an early age on my grandfather's primitive Oklahoma farm. No electricity, no in-door plumbin',an outhouse, farming with horses, wood stove heating and cooking, and a one-room schoolhouse. You Know? The Good Ol' Days!
